Cord drill and Pump drill
Adults DIYI made a cord drill and then upgraded it to a pump drill. A cord drill is basically a spindle with a fly wheel attached so it looks like a spinning top. the middle of a piece of cord is then put into a notch at the top of the spindle. The ends of the cord are then wrapped around the spindle and then pulled quickly outwards causing the drill to spin. The momentum of the fly wheel causes the cord to wrap back around the spindle in the other direction. When it stops the cords are pulled outwards again and the drill spins in the other direction.
Molten Aluminum Vs 'Spitballs'
Adults DIYI packed a fishtank completely full of water balls (water beads, water balz, orbeez, spitballs...). Im guessing there are over 10,000 in there! Anyway, I melted a bunch of old aluminum pipes and poured them into the fishtank hoping to create a cool design. And it worked perfectly! These are really unique, no two pieces are alike.
Baseball Bat from Rough Sawn Lumber
Adults DIYIn this video I make a baseball bat from scratch, using maple and walnut. Most baseball bats are made with a solid piece of wood such as ash, hickory or maple, however I thought it would look really cool to add some walnut. So, I first got three boards, two maple and one walnut, that were at least 40 inches long.
Skateboard Made Of Cardboard
Adults DIYCan you skate paper? Hell yeah you can! We just posted our Cardboard Chaos series with Ernest Packaging where we see how far paper can go. The goal, make a skateboard out of cardboard that can handle the real elements of skateboarding. With legendary skateboard builder Paul Schmitt and the design crew at Ernest Packaging we build a few different boards until we land on one that is good enough for one of the best skateboarders in the world, Tony Hawk.
Amazing Secret Monitor
Adults DIYBefore you attempt this, please note that I've only tried this with an LCD monitor. I don't know if it will work with any other type. Also, it may not work with certain LCD monitors. Also, the results may not be as good as the results I got. I recommend doing this project with a monitor that you don't care about losing.
Use a Cordless Power Drill in the Kitchen
Adults DIYA cordless drill is probably the last thing you'd imagine being useful in a kitchen, but over on Make Projects, DIYer Jason Poel Smith shows off how to use a drill to quickly clean dirty pans, as a mixer, cheese grater, and pepper mill attachment.
